Jaya Suprana di Australia

Budayawan multilatenta, Jaya Suprana, hari ini bertandang ke Canberra.

Pada Senin, pukul 6pm – 7.30pm, di KBRI Canberra, ia dijadwalkan memberikan penghargaan rekor MURI kepada KBRI dan Panitia Hardiknas 2012 di Australia, sebuah kepanitiaan yang terdiri dari para mahasiswa dan penggerak sosial. Rekor MURI yang diberikan: Rangkaian Perayaan Hardiknas Terpanjang di Luar Negeri.

Jaya Suprana juga dijadwalkan memberikan talk show. Selaku figur yang pernah menjadi presenter kondang melalui Jaya Suprana Show, talk show-nya pasti menarik.

Ia juga diharapkan berkenan memainkan komposisi pianonya yang terkenal orisinil, khususnya dengan nada pentatonis ciri khas instrumen musik tradisional Indonesia.

Lebih jauh lagi, kabarnya ia akan memberikan beberapa tiket gratis bagi warga Indonesia yang hadir di acara malam ini. Tiket gratis menonton konser seorang prodigy piano dari Indonesia, Jesslyn Julia Gunawan (15 tahun), pada tanggal 24 Mei ini di Sydney Opera House.

Jaya Suprana, born Liauw Kok Tjiang (born January 27, 1949), is an Indonesian composer, pianist, businessman, and television presenter.

Suprana was born in Denpasar, Bali and was adopted as a child by Lambang and Lily Suprana; he is of Chinese descent but grew up within Javanese culture. He is married to Julia Suprana but has since separated from her and has no biological children. He studied music at Musikhochschule Muenster and Folkwang-Hochschule Essen, West Germany, between 1967 and 1976, and since then has given piano recitals worldwide, as well as composing his own music. He also presents his own national weekly talkshow called the Jaya Suprana Show.

He has been President Director of PT Jamu Jago, one of Indonesia’s largest manufacturers of herbal medicine, since 1983, having worked there as Marketing Director since 1976. Apart from his business and musical activities, he established the Indonesian Museum of Records (MURI) on January 27, 1990, and is its director. He also founded an orphanage, Panti Asuhan Rotary-Suprana.

Suprana claims a PhD degree in philosophy and social sciences from the unaccredited Pacific Western University. He is also the chief commissioner of his family-run medicinal herbs producing firm, PT Jamu Cap Jago, in the Central Java capital of Semarang.[1]

He tours with the group Kwartet Punakawan [2]

He promoted Kelirumology – finding facts from false myths, in humorous way.
